- A. 1/4" BSP internal taper thread.
Spanner flats at connections 19mm (3/4")
- Q. What shutdown temperatures are available?
- A. Two shutdown temperatures are available a 65°C and a 90°C
- Q. What capillary lengths are available?
- A. The KBB is available with the capillary sensor lengths of:
1.5m (5ft), 2.0m (6ft), 3m (10ft) & 6m (20ft) using a 124mm long sensor
And
9m (30ft), 12m (39ft), 16m (53ft) and 20m (66ft) using a 174mm long sensor
The 1.5m (5ft) is only available as a 65oC shutdown and the 2.0m (6ft) is only available as a 90OC.
- Q. Can the KBB be installed inside?
- A. No, the valve is to be installed in the oil supply pipeline outside were the oil line enters the building, with the sensor mounted firmly inside the appliance
- Q. Can the valve be reset after it has tripped?
- A. Yes, after the temperature at the sensor has dropped to below 30oC you can reset the fire valve by pushing the black button in.
- Q. What is the flow rate of the KBB fire valve?
- A. Kerosene: 56 litres/hour at 1 meter head / 85 litres/hour at 2 meters head
Diesel: 50 litres/hour at 1 meter head
- Q. Can I shut the oil flow off manually?
- A. Yes, pull the black resent button out.
- Q. Can I cut the capillary to aid installation?
- A. No, if the capillary is cut the fire valve will no longer operate, and you will have invalidated your warranty.
- Q. Can I fit the valve vertically?
- A. Yes, but if fitted in any other orientation other than horizontal with the black reset button downwards, the valve must be protected from the weather. If the valve is fitted incorrectly it will invalidate your warranty.
- Q. Can I test that the valve is working?
- A. Yes, the operation of the fire valve can be verified by immersing the sensor phial in water and then heating it to the appropriate temperature. This checks that the operation to shut-off the oil supply pipe takes place and enables a check to be made that the valve can be manually reset once the sensor phial temperature has reduced to normal operating level.
Care should always be taken when handling boiling water, this operation should only be carried out by a competent person.
- Q. What is the warranty period on the KBB?
- A. The warranty period is 3 years.
- Q. Is it ok to put any excess coils of capillary inside the appliance?
- A. Yes, this will not affect the operation of the valve.
- Q. What do the drawings on the instruction leaflet mean?
- A. The instruction leaflet gives basic fitting advice and specifications for the valve. For a more detail explanation please see the on-line data sheet.
- Q. Can I get a KBB with a longer capillary length than 20m (66ft)?
- A. No, not with the KBB. To do this you would have to use the KBB/E an electronic version of the KBB. Please see the KBB/E Web page and data sheet for more information.
